NHS Organisations: Contact Numbers and Routes

FP FrontlinePay Editorial

Short answer

No single number covers the NHS. This page gives verified contact routes for the bodies NHS staff most often need: the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA), NHS Pensions (0300 330 1346 for members), NHS Jobs (0300 330 1013), the NMC (020 7637 7181 for general enquiries), the HCPC (+44 (0)300 500 6184), the GPhC (020 3713 8000) and NHS Resolution (020 7811 2700). We could not verify a GMC phone number, so we point you to its own contact page. Every entry shows the date we checked (19 October 2026) and the official page it comes from. For pay, rotas and ESR, the first contact is your own employer, not any of these.

This guide is for NHS staff who need to reach a national body: to query a pension, chase an NHS Jobs account problem, ask a regulator about registration, or understand where NHS Resolution fits. We include only numbers and addresses we read from the organisation's own pages, and say plainly where we could not. Contact details change, so use the source link to confirm before relying on one. FrontlinePay is independent and not affiliated with any organisation listed.

NHSBSA also has contact pages for the Injury Benefit Scheme, student bursaries, Total Reward Statements and others, listed on its main contact us page. NHSBSA's call charges page says calls to 030 numbers are approximately up to 10p per minute from a landline and 3p to 40p from a mobile, and 0345 numbers up to 16p and 3p to 65p, and that you may get calls free or discounted under your phone package, so check with your provider. Phone hours are 09:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. The NMC asks you to include your PIN, PRN or Candidate ID in registration emails, not to send one enquiry to more than one mailbox, and says it usually responds within ten working days. International applicants who have submitted all documents should wait 35 days before contacting the contact centre. The NMC publishes separate pages for employers and for raising concerns. Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

  • • Switchboard (UK): +44 (0)300 500 6184. The page says calls to 03 numbers cost no more than a national rate call to an 01 or 02 number.
  • • From outside the UK: +44 (0)20 7582 5460, if you cannot use the main switchboard.
  • • Post: Health and Care Professions Council, 184-186 Kennington Park Road, London, SE11 4BU.
  • • Opening hours: not listed on the page we read.
  • • Routes listed: registration (joining, leaving, CPD, renewals, online accounts), fitness to practise, education programmes, policy and standards, finance, recruitment and customer feedback. Other queries go to the switchboard.

General Medical Council (GMC)

We could not verify a GMC phone number. The GMC contact pages blocked our automated check on 19 October 2026, and we do not publish a number we have not read from the official page. Use the GMC contact us page for current phone, email and chat details. The GMC's Where you can find us page lists its Manchester office at 3 Hardman Street, M3 3AW with weekday office hours of 8.30am to 5pm, and says to confirm arrangements with your GMC contact in advance before visiting. Doctors' pay and pension questions are not for the GMC; see our guides to NHS doctors' pay and the pension for doctors.

General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

  • • Address: General Pharmaceutical Council, Level 14, One Cabot Square, London, E14 4QJ.
  • • Phone: 020 3713 8000.
  • • Opening hours: not listed on the page we read.
  • • Email: the page showed one address as text and a different one as the link behind it, so we do not repeat either. Use the GPhC contact page.

This comes from the GPhC pharmacy inspections site's contact page, checked 19 October 2026. The GPhC main contact page blocked our automated check, and older GPhC documents show a previous address at 25 Canada Square, so confirm on pharmacyregulation.org before posting anything important. See our pharmacist salary guide for pay.

NHS Resolution

NHS Resolution is an arm's-length body of the Department of Health and Social Care. Its website describes claims management (clinical and non-clinical indemnity schemes for NHS trusts), practitioner performance advice about doctors, dentists and pharmacists, primary care appeals and safety and learning work. Most of its stated services are aimed at organisations such as trusts, not individual staff, so for a problem at work, start with your employer or union.

Postal enquiries go to NHS Resolution, 8th Floor, 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf, London E14 4PU (its page says use the London office for all postal enquiries); there is also a Leeds office at 7 and 8 Wellington Place, Leeds, LS1 4AP. The page lists email addresses by purpose, including nhsr.claimsenquiries@nhs.net for claims and nhsr.casesupport@nhs.net for performance advice, and states hours only for press enquiries. Acas and payroll providers

  • • Acas helpline: 0300 123 1100, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. Advice is free, but the call may be charged depending on your provider. Source: Acas, checked 19 October 2026.
  • • NHS Shared Business Services, Employment Services (payroll and pensions): 0303 123 1144, for staff of employers that use SBS. The page asks you to use its Self-Service Portal first. Source: NHS SBS contact, checked 19 October 2026. More in who to contact about wrong pay.

Staying safe: scam numbers and directories

  • • Go to the organisation's own website by typing its address, then follow the Contact link.
  • • Be cautious of paid search adverts and directory sites that show a number with the organisation's name.
  • • Treat any caller asking you to move money to "keep your registration or pension safe" as a red flag: hang up and ring the number on the official site.
  • • Do not give your password, PIN or full bank details to anyone who phones you unexpectedly.

ℹHow we keep this page accurate

Each number shows its date and source page. Where a page blocked our check (GMC, GPhC's main page) or conflicted with itself (GPhC email), we say so rather than guess. If you find a number that no longer works, tell us through the contact page and we will recheck it.

The HCPC switchboard is +44 (0)300 500 6184, and the HCPC contact page lists +44 (0)20 7582 5460 if you are calling from outside the UK and cannot use the main number. The page does not list opening hours. The HCPC address is 184-186 Kennington Park Road, London, SE11 4BU. Checked 19 October 2026.
What is the GMC contact number? +
We could not verify a GMC phone number. When we checked on 19 October 2026 the GMC's contact pages blocked our automated check, and we do not publish numbers we have not read from the official page. Use the contact page at gmc-uk.org. GMC's office address, from its Where you can find us page, is 3 Hardman Street, Manchester M3 3AW, with weekday office hours listed as 8.30am to 5pm, but the page says to confirm arrangements with your GMC contact before visiting.
How do I contact the General Pharmaceutical Council? +
The GPhC's pharmacy inspections contact page lists Level 14, One Cabot Square, London, E14 4QJ and 020 3713 8000, and no opening hours. Older GPhC documents show a previous address at 25 Canada Square, so do not rely on old letters. GPhC's main contact page blocked our automated check, so confirm on pharmacyregulation.org before sending anything important. Checked 19 October 2026.
Can I contact NHS Resolution about a problem at work? +
NHS Resolution describes itself as an arm's-length body of the Department of Health and Social Care that provides indemnity schemes and advice mainly to NHS organisations such as trusts, plus practitioner performance advice about doctors, dentists and pharmacists and primary care appeals. Most of its stated services are aimed at organisations rather than individual staff, so for a problem at work your employer, HR or union is normally the first contact. Its general enquiries number is 020 7811 2700.
Is there one NHS number for all of these? +
No. NHSBSA, NHS Pensions, NHS Jobs, each regulator and NHS Resolution are separate organisations with separate lines. NHSBSA does publish a switchboard on 0191 283 8924 for people who are not sure who to contact, but it only covers NHSBSA services. Your employer's HR or payroll team is the first stop for employment and pay matters.
How do I know a number is genuine? +
Take it from the organisation's own website, reached by typing the address yourself, not from a search advert, a social media post or an email. Be cautious of any directory site that offers to connect you for a fee. The numbers on this page are shown with the date we checked and the page they come from, so you can confirm them.
