Your Personalised NHS Pay & Pension Report
Enter your band, hours and age once. See your take-home pay and projected pension free, then unlock one dated PDF that puts both together with the assumptions behind them. Last updated October 2026.
Short answer
The report combines your NHS take-home pay and a 2015 CARE pension projection, calculated from the same pay figure, in one dated, printable PDF with the assumptions written out. For an England Band 5, first point, full-time example the engine gives take-home pay of about £2,040 a month. Your own headline figures are free on this page. The PDF is a one-off £6.99, with no subscription, and it is a planning estimate, not a pension forecast.
ℹA planning estimate, not a forecast
The report assumes your pay stays as entered and uses a planning rate for revaluation. It is independent, is not financial advice and is not a substitute for your NHS Pensions Annual Benefit Statement. FrontlinePay is not affiliated with the NHS, NHS Pensions or HMRC.

Example: what the report shows for a Band 5
The figures below are from the same engine as the tool, for an England-based Band 5 on the first point of the scale, full time, with no London weighting, no student loan, aged 35 with a Normal Pension Age of 67 and no pension banked yet. Your own report uses your details.
| Item | Per year | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| Gross pay | £32,073 | £2,673 |
| Income tax | -£3,368 | -£281 |
| National Insurance | -£1,560 | -£130 |
| NHS Pension contribution | -£2,662 | -£222 |
| Net take-home | £24,483 | £2,040 |
Projected pension at 67 for this example: £28,599 a year, built up over 32 years of the same pay. It is a figure in future pounds that depends heavily on the assumptions (pay held as entered, a fixed planning rate of revaluation, no change in hours or band), so use it to see how the scheme's maths works and to compare scenarios, not as a prediction of what you will receive or of what it will be worth in today's money.
How the pay and pension numbers are worked out
Pay comes from the 2026/27 Agenda for Change pay scales for your nation, your band and your pay point, adjusted for your contracted hours and, in England, any High Cost Area Supplement. Income tax, National Insurance, your NHS Pension contribution and any student loan come off using the rules in the FrontlinePay engine, the same ones behind our NHS Pay Calculator. The pension projection uses the 2015 CARE scheme: each year banks 1/54th of your pensionable pay, and what you have already banked is revalued at 2.5% a year, which is a planning assumption for CPI plus 1.5%. The NHS Pension Calculator lets you vary pay growth and retirement age.
How accurate is it, and where to get your official figures
Your payslip is the authority on pay, and your NHS Pensions member account and Annual Benefit Statement are the authority on your pension. This report is a clear, consistent estimate built from your inputs, which is useful for planning and for explaining your position to someone else. Our guides on getting an NHS pension forecast and understanding your annual benefit statement show where to find the official numbers, and the member self-service guide covers the online account. If your take-home looks different from your payslip, try the NHS Payslip Checker.
